AH! Sorry, an error was keeping changes from appearing on the site - everything since September the 8th! Now online, so please read the entries below...sorry again!!
Hmmm. Well, to those of you who are still reading (I wouldn't blame you for giving up!), here's the news:
* planning to get a computer and internet access at home very soon...! so I promise more regular updates, emails, pictures, web-cam etc. etc.
* it's cold here, especially in our apartment. they don't have such a think as central heating here, or double glazing. or (in our place at least), walls made of insulating material. so we've created a survival capsule out of our living room, where we sleep, eat and...well, survive!
* went to Singapore and Bintan Island (part of Indonesia, 45 mins from S'pore by ferry) a couple of weeks ago, for 6 days. Very nice! Quite warm, great food (cheap too), and it was nice to be able to speak English more! Also, some English shops (Marks and Sparks, WHSmith) and a very authentic London pub, where I had a pint of Ruddles...aaah!
It was also enlightening to be part of a Japanese package tour...the half day city tour consisted of a 5 min boat ride, a mysterious photographer taking pictures of us near the Merlion (never to be seen again), a free lunch in a hotel somewhere in the back streets, a 20 min visit to the botanical gardens (the Japanese tourists spent this time smoking and sitting near the entrance!) and tours of a jewellery factory/shop (all prices in Japanese yen!), a crocodile/snakeskin bag shop and a silk emporium...
* We're working up to the 28th December and then have time off until January 6th(?). We have to work on Christmas Day unfortunately.
That's it for now. Please keep emailing us as much as poss., and I will do my best to reply.
